What to wear with your Babu Sleeping Bag:

The ideal room temperature for a baby is between 16-20ºC or 60-68ºF. This Babu sleeping bag is perfect wearing for autumn, winter and spring temperatures. It does not carry a tog rating, as it is a natural, breathable fibre, but the information below will help you decide how to dress your child for the room temperature.

Check your child’s temperature by feeling the back of their neck.  If they feel hot, remove a layer.  If they’re cold, an extra layer of merino clothing could be needed, alternatively mittens or a blanket (merino is ideal).  Place the blanket width-ways across the child and tuck in snugly, this will stop the blanket moving and covering their face.

Temperature guide and what clothing to add underneath your Babu Sleeping Bag:

22-24C  Short sleeve bodysuit
20-22C  Long sleeve bodysuit
18-20C  Long sleeve bodysuit & leggings
16-18C  Long sleeve bodysuit & pyjamas
14-16C  As above, with long sleeve tee

Washing Instructions:

Please use a quality liquid wool wash for your merino garments.  They can be machine washed on  a wool cycle or hand washed.  Do not rub or soak merino clothing.  Do not use Napisan, regular laundry powder or bleach with merino clothing as holes will get eaten in the fabric!  Best to line dry or dry on a heated towel rail as tumble drying merino can lead to shrinkage.

Rating Quality!

By Michelle from Pilbara on 24 July 2018

Just received our Babu sleeping bag and very happy with it! It is just such gorgeous soft material with a nice bit if weight to it. Really great quality. The knit has a bit if stretch to it also and it is nice and wide which is good for babies in hip harnesses.

Rating Not a good choice if your baby is a sucker

By Brenda from Auckland on 24 July 2017

This is a lovely warm sleeping bag, but I wouldn't recommend it for a baby that is a sucker and doesn't use a comforter. Our boy will grab at anything, and the fact there is only one shoulder dome that overlaps close to the front means he could easily grab it and suck on it. After two months, the fabric came off the shoulder area, even though I tried my best to wash it.

About Ali, The Founder of Babu:Ali from Babu

Ali started Babu in 2002 after not being able to find the right type of sheeting fabric she wanted for her baby Jack, nicknamed 'babu'. Thousands of sheet sets, hooded baby towels, baby blankets and clothing items later, she is still travelling the world, designing, sourcing, manufacturing and selling Babu.

She is one busy lady. We call her the tornado! You will see her name and face along with her home and family, all through our emails, social media and her signature of simple designs and superb quality fabrics, throughout our product line.

With a nursing background, specifically in wound care, Ali is a stickler for what goes against a babies skin. If we have heard "the skin is your largest organ" in our office once, we have (literally) heard it 1,000 times. That is why natural fibres are so important to her for comfort and functionality.

Ali pays attention to the small stuff and is over every part of our design and production process. Making sure Babu stands the test of time is important to her, so you can feel confident storing your Babu goodies away for your second, third or fourth baby and then you can pass them on! That is if they haven't been dragged around as cuddly favourites.

On any given day she can be found whirling around the office from section to section collaborating or instructing (or as she calls it, mind dumping). She spends hours quietly working on production for Babu or one of the many companies she manufactures ranges for and still finds time to manage her kids sports teams, go on school camps and do her own house cleaning. All this while acting the fool, dancing like a nutter and making sure her pantry is in order and her tupperware correctly labelled.

Above all else, family comes first here at Babu!  We are a team of Mum's and having someone who understands the trials and tribulations, implements products to make our lives easier and practices what she preaches, is truly amazing. When Ali says family comes first, it really is true.
