Why should I use a baby sleeping bag?
Sleeping bags are a safer alternative to loose blankets because they stay securely on your baby throughout the night. They can’t be kicked up and cover your baby’s face, whereas a baby could scoot under a blanket if they’re wriggling around a lot. Sleeping Bags & Suits also help maintain a more consistent temperature while still allowing babies freedom of movement. They serve as an excellent sleep association for older babies & toddlers; your little one will know it's time for some zzz's when their sleeping bag comes out.
Should I choose a front zip or side zip bag?
This really comes down to personal preference. The side zip sleeping bags are ideal for newborns and babies under 6 months, because they can be partially opened for middle of the night nappy changes which are more frequent in this age range. Side Zip sleeping bags open wide to air during the day and cab dry quicker on the washing line. A front zip however, is often preferred by parents with older babies because a baby who can stand up and jump in the cot may pop the should domes open!
What is a tog rating?
A tog rating measures the warmth of a sleeping bag or sleeping suit. Lower tog ratings (e.g. 0.2 Tog) are designed for warmer temperatures, while higher tog ratings (2.5 - 3.5 Tog) provide more warmth during cooler months. Choosing the correct tog helps your baby stay comfortable without becoming too hot or too cold.
