Ooly’s light comes in a variety of delightful colours, but for a soothing bedtime and overnight experience, we recommend the warm hues of red or orange. Unlike other sleep trainer clocks that use a disruptive blue glow, Ooly offers a fully dimmable option, even allowing you to turn the light off completely. Research has shown that blue, white, or green light can hinder the secretion of melatonin, the sleep hormone, making it less than ideal for your child's sleep. Ooly's thoughtful design prioritises your child's restful sleep.
Is Ooly customisable?
Yes! Ooly gives you a lot of control over the settings and schedule. You can program everything according to your own preferences. You can cue a light setting with any particular days/times you choose. The default settings do not use blue light (which parents love) and you can pick your own colours.
For example, you can set yours for “getting ready for bed” (yellow), “bedtime” (purple), “almost time to wake up” (green), and “time to wake up!” (blue), but you could also sync it for nap times, or mealtimes, or even potentially use it beyond the toddler years for general scheduling (ie, playtime, school work time, laundry time, etc.).
You can also set times differently for different days of the week (i.e., “school day” schedule set-up for Monday through Thursday and a “weekend day” schedule in place for every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). If you want to tee up a particular schedule for every single day, you could, and you’d never need to fuss with the settings after day one. This makes Ooly an especially great choice for families who have a pretty regular schedule they like to stick to.
