With its soft, pliable design the Ergobaby Omni Deluxe All-in-One Baby Carrier has the most flexibility out of all the Ergobaby soft structured carriers and will grow with your baby from infancy to toddler. While the box states you can use from 3.2kg/ newborn our Babywearing Consultants recommend waiting until closer to 1 month of age and then working with a consultant to ensure your waistband is worn very high (underneath your bust) and that you achieve a deep seat to keep the back panel extending too far up baby's neck.

The Omni Deluxe offers all carry positions - facing in, facing out, back carry and hip carry. It can be used from newborn through to toddler age - supporting babies from 3.2kg - 20.4kg. The Omni Deluxe features a uniquely variable bucket seat which is easily adjusted as your baby grows. The seat supports your baby in the recommended hip-healthy 'M-Shape' seated position across all carry positions, including forward facing. It ensures proper head and neck support for babies at all ages and stages with the foldable and extendable integrated head and neck cushion plus a hood. FAQs

When is baby ready to face out?

Every baby develops differently. You can start wearing your baby facing out once your baby demonstrates strong head and neck control, with his chin above the carrier body, and weighs 14 lbs minimum (6.4 kg). This is usually around 5 months. Do not use a pillow to prop baby up. Make sure to narrow the seat when baby is facing out. If baby gets sleepy or shows signs of overstimulation, turn baby around to face you.

When is baby ready to be worn in the hip and back carry positions?

Every baby develops differently. You can start using the hip and back carry once your baby demonstrates strong head and neck control, can sit unassisted, and weighs 17.2 lbs minimum (7.8 kg). This is usually around 6 months.

Isn’t a front-facing carrier bad for baby’s hips?

Not when it is an ergonomically designed carrier where baby’s legs are maintained in the optimum, frog leg position. The ergobaby Omni has a unique bucket seat design, where baby sits in the carrier rather than the dangling style of traditional front packs.

Aren’t front packs uncomfortable for the wearer once baby is a bit heavier?

ergobaby carriers are comfortable and this is no exception. The waist band is very supportive and baby is held close to you rather than pulling you forward. It also has padded shoulder straps that are crossable (some find this position more supportive) and lumbar support for your lower back.

But don’t some people consider it over-stimulating for babies to face outwards?

We do not recommend that newborns face outwards, as they do not have either the neck strength to maintain that position and it is important to be able to easily view your newborn to ensure their airways remain open. It is also easy for newborns to get over-stimulated and over-tired when facing outwards. For these reasons and the design and sizing of the carrier, the forward facing position is suitable for babies 6-12 months.
