The ergoPouch HugMe Blanket from Ergopouch is designed to provide extra comfort and security against startle reflex, to help give your baby the enclosed feel of being in the womb.

The HugMe Blanket is a TOG-rated, safe newborn bed sheet - a baby blanket alternative - suitable from birth. Designed to use over the top of a swaddle or sleeping bag, the HugMe Blanket is a firm-fitting mattress sleeve that provides added security and comfort for a newborn during sleep. Each side of the HugMe Blanket is TOG-rated; simply flip the sheet over to adjust the warmth and follow our Bedding Temperature guide (included) for help layering. The zips allow you to adjust to two levels of firmness (tightness), to find the perfect fit for your baby's size, or strength of startle reflex.

The HugMe Blanket has been stringently tested and approved as safe by leading independent infant safety organisation INPAA. When using the right size for your baby's length and sleep environment, the HugMe Blanket will not come up higher than mid-way up baby's chest following Red Nose safe sleep guidelines. Given the design of the product, the Baby Tuck Sheet cannot become untucked from the mattress, be pulled up near baby's face, or be classified as loose bedding in any way. If your baby does manage to get their legs out of the HugMe Blanket, our newborn bed sheet will simply lie flat on the mattress. Newborns who don't like to be swaddled may find the firmness of the HugMe Blanket comforting in lieu of sleeping with their arms in. Please do not use the HugMe Blanket once your baby shows signs of rolling over.

Our products are reviewed by the Eczema Association of Australasia as being skin-friendly. All ergoPouch fabrics are dyed with non-toxic water based dyes, and come in trend-driven prints and colours to suit any nursery. All our prints are designed in-house.

Care: Gentle cold machine wash in mild detergent. Do not soak or bleach. Tumble Dry Low. Moderately Hot Iron. Drycleanable (P).

How to use the HugMe Blanket

Slide the HugMe Blanket onto the end of your baby's bassinet or cot mattress like a pillow slip, so it comes up both sides of the mattress and cannot be untucked.
Choose the 0.2 TOG side up for a light layer with less firmness, or the 1.0 TOG side up for a firmer fit and more warmth. Though the primary purpose of the HugMe Blanket is not for warmth, we've made it TOG rated to work with your Cocoon Swaddle Bag and Layers.
Dress your baby in their Layers and Cocoon Swaddle Bag underneath the HugMe Blanket. Follow our new Bedding Temperature Guide (included in pack) which will tell you the combination of swaddle/layer TOGs to wear with your HugMe Blanket, according to your room temperature. This will help ensure your baby does not overheat.
Unzip the HugMe Blanket, and gently lay your baby under the open folds. Their feet should be touching the end of their bassinet/cot for safety.
Zip up the HugMe Blanket. Two zips on the HugMe Blanket allow you to adjust firmness for fit, safety and comfort. Choose the middle zip for a wider fit, or the outer zip for a firmer fit. You should easily be able to zip up the sheet, and firmly fit two fingers between the sheet and your baby.
Once zipped up, the HugMe Blanket should not come up higher than the middle of your baby's chest to follow Red Nose safe-sleep guidelines for baby bedding in Australia.
If it is coming up higher, simply tuck more of the product under the mattress until the desired length is achieved. Continue to adjust as your child grows in length.
To remove your baby from the HugMe Blanket, simply unzip.
Discontinue use once your baby shows signs of rolling, and their startle reflex begins to disappear (usually from 8 weeks of age).

The HugMe Blanket comes in bassinet, bedside sleeper and cot size. We advise parents to use the appropriate size for your child's length on the right mattress (e.g. bassinet size for a newborn, on a bassinet mattress).

The firm fit makes it very difficult for a young baby with limited motor skills and strength to wiggle down, or sideways under the sheet. If your baby manages to get out of the sheet by kicking it off, the sheet will lie flat against the mattress. The sheet cannot be kicked or pulled upwards towards the face due to its design.

Warnings

Ensure baby's feet are touching the end of the bassinet/cradle when in use, and the HugMe Blanket is positioned no higher than mid-way up baby's chest.

It is recommended to sleep baby on back from birth
For use only with a bassinet or cradle mattress. The mattress that this product is used with should have a firm surface, soft bedding is not recommended
