Designed for little movers and growing sleepers, The Sleep Store Winter Cotton & Merino Sleeping Suit offers the same cosy warmth as a traditional sleeping bag, with the added freedom of legs. Perfect for active toddlers or children transitioning to a big bed, thoughtfully designed to provide warmth, comfort, and peace of mind when temperatures drop, so you can rest easier knowing your little one is cosy and well protected. Ideal for cooler rooms (designed for temperatures below 16°C, and suitable through to 25°C with appropriate layering), this sleeping bag combines premium materials with practical design.

Crafted from two layers of natural fibres, the outer layer is made from a beautifully thick, brushed fleece cotton, finished in our signature prints, while the inside is lined with our deluxe merino for natural warmth and breathability. It combines the softness and breathability of cotton with the temperature-regulating magic of merino wool.

The addition of sleeves gives extra warmth where it’s needed most, making this suit ideal for cooler room temperatures. Unlike sleeping bags, the leg design allows children to move freely, whether they’re shifting positions in their sleep, climbing into bed, or walking around in the morning. Fold-over feet add another layer of versatility. Keep them closed overnight to keep little toes snug and warm, or fold them open for playtime and those early morning adventures.

Parents will appreciate the high-quality zip closures, making night-time changes or early morning wriggles that much easier. Available in sizes 2, 3, and 4 years, this sleeping suit is designed to grow with your child through those busy toddler years.

Fire Safety

This product complies with the Product Safety Standard (Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard) Regulations 2016 and Safety Standard AS/NZS 1249:2014 (Children's Nightwear and Limited Daywear having Reduced Fire Hazard).

Merino sleeping bags, bedding, swaddles and clothing are easy to care for when following the correct guidelines. Please see our care instructions included with your garment.

Materials: Inner Layer - 200gm New Zealand Merino Wool. Outer Layer - 200gm Organic Cotton. Woolmark Rich Blend - 19.5 Microns. Certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX.
Care: Gentle (wool cycle) machine or hand wash in cold or 30°C water with liquid wool wash. Dry immediately - lay flat or hang dry. Do not tumble dry.

I'm naturally fluffy

These garments are naturally fluffy but washing separately for the first few washes will help the natural wool fibres on the inside to settle and will free any excess fluff.

Care for your merino

As with many wool garments, you may experience a bit of pilling on this garment. Please note this is often due to a soft fibre such as merino rubbing against other fabrics, such as flannelette sheets. We consider pilling a normal part of wear and tear on a soft merino garment. We could have treated the fabric much more to reduce pilling but then it would lose its lovely, snuggly softness.

Please take care with moths

Protect your Merino from small holes created by insects such as moths and silverfish. Ensure your garments are clean before storing. Lavender and Cedar wood are noxious to these pests so storing your garments with these scents or a moth trap will help protect your knitwear further.

What are the major differences between The Sleep Store Merino Wool garments?

Basics Merino - Our entry level 100% Merino Wool. At 190gsm it is the lightest weight of our 100% merino wool offerings but not as fine (or silky smooth to touch) as our Deluxe Rib or Jersey Merino. It is a great affordable and durable option.

All Seasons Merino Tencel - This is an everyday collection made from a 70% Merino Wool / 30% Tencel. The Jersey blend fabric has a silky, cool feel, and is the lightest Merino wool blend option at 165gsm. The Tencel blend makes it great for wearing all year round and ideal for sensitive skin.

Jersey Merino - Made from 100% New Zealand merino wool, it is super smooth and soft. It feels like high-quality t-shirt fabric and has a comfortable stretch - not as much as the Deluxe Merino rib. Great for layering all year round at 200gsm.

Deluxe Merino Rib - Made from 100% New Zealand merino wool, this range uses a rib knit merino wool, meaning its structure consists of rows of stitching. This gives this merino wool a beautiful stretch with cross-grain elasticity. It is so soft and great all year round at 220gsm.

Fleece Merino Tencel - Super warm at 270gsm, ideal for cold nights and Wintry days. Made from a blend of 68% Merino Wool, 29% Tencel and 3% Elastane, this range is super soft and fluffy on the inside with a sweatshirt feel on the outside.

Premium mid-weight Merino - A beautiful soft and thick 100% Merino Wool interlock which allows for comfortable stretch whilst retaining shape. A lovely warm option, at 250gsm it is our warmest 100% merino options. This is our only 100% merino that is available in prints.

Merino Knitwear - Crafted from 100% merino wool. Comes in 3 different stitch patterns depending on the garment - seed stitch, classic stitch and brioche stitch.

Free 30 min Click & Collect (AKL): From our West Auckland warehouse. Order before 4pm for pick up by 5pm. Click & Collect open 9.00am – 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Same Day Dispatch: We aim to dispatch all orders placed before 1:00pm NZT, Monday to Friday, on the same business day. This excludes public holidays and high order volume promotional periods.

Delivery times: Most NZ orders arrive overnight (business days only). South Island allow up to 3 business days. Large deliveries will take longer. AU Delivery time is approx 3-6 working days into main cities, and 5-7 working days outside main centres. We cannot guarantee any of these times.
