Product Description

The Sleep Store Deluxe Merino Long Sleeve Nightie is cosy and breathable alternative to winter pyjamas and will surely become a winter sleepwear favourite for girls aged 3 to 8.  The merino used to make these super soft and snuggly nighties is made from a luscious 220g, 100% merino rib knit fabric, knitted just for us! These nighties have great stretch, allowing your little one to stay comfortable, cosy and warm all night. The weight and rib construction of this merino nightie is makes it thicker than most on the market, meaning it will stay warmer in those cooler months and is more durable, so will last longer. With a lovely crew neck, a-line flare, long sleeves, a nice thick cuff and a sweet shoulder frill, these nighties are perfect on their own or can be layered with a deluxe merino bodysuitsingletsuit or singlet.  Customers with pre-schoolers and primary school aged children love these nighties, which are also easy for children to manage themselves when night toilet training.

At The Sleep Store, we love to find amazing products that help children sleep better and we try our best to keep our loyal customers happy. So when we get requests for a certain garment, we give the people what they want! Layers of merino are an essential tool in helping children sleep better in winter, so we are delighted to have a beautiful quality merino nightie included in our deluxe sleepwear range.

Why do we love Merino so much? Known as the 'miracle fibre' for infant sleep, Merino wool is a naturally temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking fibre. It will help to keep baby warm in winter, but also cool in the warmer months without waking up clammy.  Merino wool has the ability to naturally lock away odours, releasing them when washed or aired - this can mean less washing... yay! Merino is also naturally fire retardant. Of course, we recommend keeping your children well away from any heaters and fires ("a metre from the heater!") but Merino is a naturally low fire danger fabric.

This product complies with the Product Safety Standard (Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard) Regulations 2016 and  Safety Standard AS/NZS 1249:2014 (Children's Nightwear and Limited Daywear having Reduced Fire Hazard).

About our sizing
Please note: Season 2024 sizing has been updated from previous batches
Our own brand garment follow the Australasian standard AS1182-1997 for sizing and are made with room to grow. Our size 2 clothing for example is made to fit the standard's average sized 2.5 year old comfortably.

Tips on how to measure your child
Chest - Place tape measure under the arms and measure around the chest at the fullest part until your fingers meet.
Arm - With arms down by the side and relaxed, measure from the wrist to the top of the arm before the shoulder curve. If you are unsure where the true shoulder curve starts, then gently place your flat hand (or another flat item like a ruler) on the shoulder and measure up to this point.

Please note - Measurements are taken when garments are laid flat. Areas such as chest, waist and hips are calculated at twice the width to get the full measurement.

How to Use

Materials & Care

Merino sleeping bags, bedding, swaddles and clothing are easy to care for when following the correct guidelines. Please see our care instructions included with your garment.

100% Australian Rib Knit Merino Wool (220gsm)
Woolmark Extra Fine - 19.5 Microns
Certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX
Gentle machine or hand wash in cold or 30°C water with liquid wool wash
Dry immediately - lay flat or hang dry

Care for your merino

As with many wool garments, you may experience a bit of pilling on this garment. Please note this is often due to a soft fibre such as merino rubbing against other fabrics, such as flannelette sheets. We consider pilling a normal part of wear and tear on a soft merino garment. We could have treated the fabric much more to reduce pilling but then it would lose its lovely, snuggly softness.

Please take care with moths

Protect your Merino from small holes created by insects such as moths and silverfish. Ensure your garments are clean before storing. Lavender and Cedar wood are noxious to these pests so storing your garments with these scents or a moth trap will help protect your knitwear further.

Love your Merino and it will love you back!

What are the major differences between The Sleep Store Merino garments?

Jersey Merino
The jersey merino is super smooth and soft, feels like high quality t-shirt fabric and has a comfortable stretch to it - not as much as the deluxe merino rib. Great for all year round and is the lightest of the three types at 200gsm. Good for summer babies.
Deluxe Merino Rib
This is a rib knit merino meaning it's structure is made up of rows of stitching. This gives this merino a really beautiful stretch with cross grain elasticity. It is so soft and great for all year round at 220gsm.
Deluxe Merino Fleece
The most fluffy fleecy softness on the inside, with a sweatshirt look on the outside, and most definitely the warmest of them all at 360gsm.
