When to transition baby from swaddling to sleeping bag
As your baby grows and starts to show signs of rolling, you should transition your baby from swaddle to a baby sleeping bag. Swaddling will become unsafe if your baby rolls while swaddled. Another sign to look for is sleep deterioration or signs of frustration when you are trying to swaddle your baby.
There is no specific age at which you need to stop swaddling, but once your baby shows signs of rolling or is over 4 months, it is a good time to start the transition process. Some babies may be ready earlier, while others will still enjoy their swaddles for many more months!
If your baby is over 5 months, still swaddled and waking in the night, she may need at least one hand out. This would enable your baby to suck her fingers or put a dummy back in herself. If you keep both arms in the swaddle past 5 months of age, you are likely to continue to need to help your baby back to sleep!
